Monrovia- George Wesseh Blamo, the recently appointed Minister of State for Presidential Affairs nominee, has resolved to keep quiet while performing his job rather than turning the Ministry into a talking area.
Minister Blamo recently claimed to represent the interests of all Liberians while addressing members of the house of the senate in Monrovia during the confirmation hearing. Former State Department Minister for Presidential Affairs Nathaniel Mcgill was replaced by Minister Blamo after he was recently sanctioned by the US State Department Treasurer for engaging in financial fraud.
According to Minister-designate Blamo, he will coordinate the President’s activities in secret in compliance with the Liberian law that established the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.
He said that it is not his responsibility to serve as the press secretary during the Senate Committee on Executive Confirmation Hearing on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, adding that the Minister of State is not a talkative person.
At the same time, he pledged to function as a conduit for the President’s operations to be coordinated with those of other Liberian government agencies.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate has unanimously voted to confirm Presidential nominee George Wesseh Blamo as the Minister of States and Presidential Affairs.
The decision was triggered by a recommendation from the Committee on Executive and was read in the chamber on Thursday, December 8, 2022, in Monrovia.
The Senate Committee on Executive through its recommendation sees the nominee as a suitable person to steer the affairs of the Presidency.
In the recommendation, the Executive Committee pointed out that Nominee George Wesseh Blamo’s confirmation is on the bases of his past performance, and academic credentials coupled with work experiences in both the Executive and the Legislative branches of government over the years.
The Liberian Senate Plenary upon the recommendation unanimously voted on the record for the Minister of State and Presidential Affairs Designate to be confirmed.
Honorable George Wesseh Blamo will now replace former minister Nathaniel McGill who suffers from the US Department of Treasury decision and implemented by the American Embassy near Monrovia.
