Monrovia, Liberia – A two-day compliance examination of the gold production, processing, and exporting practices of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) has been completed by the Liberian government. The firm has a Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) with the government that allows it to operate in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County.
The examination is a component of continuous efforts to guarantee that all holders of mining rights adhere completely to Liberia’s Minerals and Mining Law, which is headed by Minister of Mines and Energy Wilmot Paye and the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). The program is a crucial part of the government’s larger concession monitoring plan.
The company’s compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) controlling the shipment of gold was the main focus of the evaluation conducted May 3–4, 2025. The compliance evaluation was carried out by a high-level, 20-member joint delegation that included representatives from the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs (MOS), LRA, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).
The team examined Bea Mountain’s gold smelting, packing, weighing, and storing processes while in Kinjor. After that, the party went to Roberts International Airport (RIA) to see and go over the processes involved in gold exportation.
“This compliance visit is just the beginning. Every mining company operating in Liberia will undergo similar inspections. No one will be left out,” assured Minister Paye and Commissioner-General Jallah. The delegation admonished the BMMC to stick to every tenets of the SOP of the MDA as the government remains committed to providing the enabling environments for investments in the country.
At the conclusion of the assessment, both officials emphasized that the primary goal of the exercise was to reinforce the Government’s commitment to transparent and accountable oversight of the mining sector from extraction and processing to valuation and exportation.
