For Contribution Towards Sheriff’s Death
Monrovia, Liberia – The Muslims Elder Supreme Council through its speaker and Islamic Advisor to the President has praised President Joseph N. Boakai for his many contributions towards the death of Centenarian Alhaji Amadu Sheriff. On Friday, September 27, 2024, the late sheriff who lived to be over 100 years old passed away in his Garnerville home in Chocolate City.
Speaking on Thursday, October 3, 2024, during the Seven Days of the late Sheriff in Chocolate City, President Boakai’s Islamic Advisor, Sheikh Seku Sheriff, stated that the family and the Muslim community as a whole had benefited much from President Boakai’s support since their brother’s passing.
“We are here today to send our thanks and appreciation to President Joseph Boakai and the Government of Liberia for their contributions towards our brother.”
According to Sheriff, the Muslim Community is happy for what the government has done during their time of bereavement.
The Islamic Advisor to the President narrated that the action of the government has proven that the government cares for every individual and its citizens.
“When our brother passed away, the President was one of the first person who extended is sympathy to the Muslims community, despite his busy schedule in America.”
According to Hon. Sheriff, the President expressed his condolences to them via the Elder Supreme Council following the loss of their brother and promised to join them as soon as he gets to Liberia. He disclosed that the Vice President was given permission by the President to visit the Muslim community up till the late Sheriff’s funeral.
The President Islamic Advisor also indicated that the government provided three cows, ten bags of rice, cars and the ATS Stadium for the funerial amount others. It can be recalled, President Boakai expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and community of the late Alhaji Amadu Sheriff, a revered elder and prominent Liberian citizen.
Throughout his life, Alhaji Sheriff who lived to be over 100 years old served Liberia in a variety of positions and left a legacy of leadership, knowledge, and dedication to his nation and community.
Nonetheless, President Boakai awarded the late Sheriff, in appreciation of his lifetime of service, one of the highest honors in the country the Humane Order of African Redemption at the level of Knight Grand Commander.
