Nana Akufo Addo Arrives in Liberia

AHEAD OF JULY 26 CELEBRATION

Roberts Field, Margibi County – The 176th anniversary of Liberia’s independence is being celebrated throughout the country, and Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has arrived in Liberia to take part in the celebration ceremony.

Vice President Jewel Howard- Taylor welcomed President Akufo Addo and his entourage at the Roberts International Airport on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

The president of Ghana is in Liberia for the second time since Weah took office. When President Weah was inaugurated in 2018, President Akufo Addo made his first trip to Liberia.

Dmytro Kuleba, the foreign minister of Ukraine, and Adama Barrow, the president of the Gambia, are reportedly in Liberia to take part in the 176th anniversary. Liberia will commemorate 176 years of independence on July 26, 2023, but the country has yet to adopt a 21st-century way of life, with the average income of its people still being less than $1 a day.
