Monrovia, Liberia – The National Elections Commission has officially granted the African Liberation League (ALL) legal permission to function in the country as a full-fledged political party. NEC Chairperson Daivdatta Browne Lassana announced during the event that the NEC had received an application over the months from the Executive Committee of the African Liberation League as well as other political Parties expressing interest in forming a political party in accordance with the nation’s new elections law and the 1986 constitution.

According to the NEC chairperson, the commission was forced to follow the law and register the group of Liberians who matched the requirements for the creation of a political party after conducting a full investigation and exhaustive process.

With less than six months to the October 10, 2023, general elections, the National Elections Commission, chaired by Madam Davidetta Brown Lassana, formally certified ten more new political parties on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

The leadership of the African Liberation League and others were tasked by Davidetta Browne Lassana at the same time with coordinating the operation in Liberia in accordance with the nation’s election laws and constitution.

As the 2023 legislative and presidential elections approaches, Madam Lassana pleaded with politicians to maintain the country’s stability, security, and democracy, highlighting the responsibility that everyone has to uphold the peace in the country.

The African Liberation League, Liberia First Movement, African Democratic Movement of Liberia, Liberia Rebuilding Party, and United Independent Democrats are some of the new political groups.
Other parties include the Greater Action Party of Liberia, the National Development Party, the All-Liberians Solidarity Party, the Reformers National Congress, and the Grassroots Development Movement.

The ten new political parties’ certification boosts the total number of recognized political parties to thirty ahead of the 2023 elections in Liberia.

The newly formed political party’s chairman, Kansuslism B. Kansuah, vowed to uphold the responsibilities and obligations of his position in line with the country’s Elections Law and the 1986 Constitution. Stating that the party’s top priority is the transformation of the nation, and that new leadership is necessary for this to happen since Liberians have been suffering for a very long time.

The NEC is the mother institution that governs political parties in the nation, and Kansuslism Berk Kansuah reaffirmed the African Liberation League commitment to its rules and regulations, particularly during and after the country’s electoral process. “We look forward to working with every party that share similar vision in transforming the nation.”

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the ceremony was held at NEC Headquarters in Central Monrovia. At the party headquarters in Congo Town, the certification was presented to partisans, followers, and sympathizers.
