NEC to Begin Monitoring Pre-Election Violence and threatens USD$1,000 fine to offenders.

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Elections Commission is anticipated to start documenting infractions in accordance with due process and in accordance with the updated campaign guidelines very soon.

According to NEC Chairperson David-Etta Brown Lassana, any political activities carried out before the allotted campaign period are punished by a fine of at least USD$1,000.

The upcoming action, according to Chairperson Lassana, is an execution of the elections law from 1986.
She emphasized that the election campaign will start from August 5 until October 8, 2023.
