Ngafuan Takes Over as Liberia’s New Finance Minister

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai appointed Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan as the new Minister at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, following the departure of former Finance Minister Bioma M. Kamara, many months ago.

On Thursday, August 29, 2024, the President appointed a number of people, including Minister Ngafuan, who will have an impact on the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, Public Procurement & Concessions Commission (PPCC), National Commission on Disabilities (NCD), and Ministry of Finance & Development Planning.

At the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, Board of Directors, Boakai named Minister of Defense, Chairperson, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Member, Minister of Finance, Member, Director of the National Security Agency, Member, Minister of Public Works, Member, Minister of Internal Affairs, Member and Director General of the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, Secretary.

Members of the Public Procurement & Concessions Commission (PPCC) Complaint Appeal & Review Panel are Sundayway E. Nelson Amagashie, Vincent Smith, Morris Davis, Ezekiel F. Nyumah, and Michael C.G. George, appointed by the President.

Within the National Commission on Disabilities (NCD), the Liberian leader designated Mr. Charles Sayphan as the Deputy Director for Technical Services and Ms. Winnifred Paye as the Deputy Director for Administration.

At the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), Boakai also named Prof. Nathaniel G. Gbessagee as Deputy Executive Director for Operations and Rev. Ben P. Cooper as Member of the Board of Trustees.

The appointments, according to President Boakai where applicable, are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate. On the other hand, President Boakai urged newly appointed government personnel to keep up their patriotism, dedication, devotion, honesty, and professionalism.
