    “No One Killed Sgt Manndeh Bobby”

    AFL, LNP Investigative Report Reveals

    Monrovia, Liberia – An investigation into the death of Sgt. Manndeh Bobby of the AFL has been made public by the Liberia National Police in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Liberia. At the November 8, 2024, meeting at the Liberia National Police Headquarters in Monrovia, Simeon Frank, the Chief Investigator and Deputy Inspector General of Police for Crime Scene, stated that Sgt. Bobby died by suicide and that “no one killed him.”

    “The investigative report further concludes that based on the facts gathered through interviews with some of the soldiers as well as workmates, the recovery of evidence, and the physical examination of Sgt Bobby’s remains (body), this investigation has concluded that Sgt. Bobby committed suicide by placing the muzzle of the gun in his mouth and discharging it,” the Deputy Inspector General for Crime Scene told the AFL High Command, which was led by the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Davidson F. Forleh, and the family of the late Bobby Manndeh.

    The LNP also offered its sympathies to the AFL and the relatives of the deceased during the meeting. According to the report, Sgt. Manndeh died from a self-inflated wound. The expressed its sincere condolences to Sgt. Manndeh’s family following the revelation and pledged its support for them during this trying time. In commemoration of Sgt. Manndeh’s life and dedication to his nation, the AFL will keep helping his family.

    The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) High Command notified the public on May 30, 2024, that Sergeant (Sgt) Bobby Manndeh had died from an alleged self-inflicted gunshot while on guard duty at the EBK Barracks in Schiefflin, Lower Margibi County. The Homicide Division of the Liberia National Police (LNP) launched an inquiry at the location after being alerted right away.

    Sgt. Bobby joined the AFL in 2007 as an infantry soldier, and Alpha Company, 1Bn, 23rd Infantry Brigade was his final unit.

    From September 2022 until December 2023, he was part of the 9th and last batch of the AFL Contingent serving in Mali as part of the UN Multi-Dimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission. He was well-known among his colleagues and superiors for his professionalism, commitment, and loyalty.
