CDC AND UP LEADERSHIP PROMOTES PEACE AHEAD OF 2023 ELECTIONS
Monrovia, Liberia – Two intelligent and brilliant Liberian females from the Coalition for Democracy Change, and the Unity Party on Monday, May 8, 2023, engaged in a heated debate on violence in election, they noted that there should be no room for violence before, during nd after elections.
The two female politicians, Kula Fofana of former ruling Unity party and current senior opposition political party, and Mamensie Kabba of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change provided their respective views on violence in election ahead of the tense 2023 presidential and legislative elections.
Candidate for the House of Representatives Kula Fofana claims that she is encouraging her fellow candidates to adopt a nonviolent stance during the election season. Madam Fofana at the same time accused the government of violating electoral guidelines. She noted that there has been no action taken against them by the National elections commission.
The government led by President Weah, according to Assistant Minister Mamensie Kabba’s declaration, has not engaged in election violence. Several elections, including the special elections in 2020 and 2021, were lost by the government, but there hs ben no bloodshed, she claimed. The female giant from the CDC urged young Liberians to abstain from violence during this period of election. She said there are many opportunities for young people in order to live then to be use by politicians to cause problem in the country.
The two young female both agreed and pledge support for 30% female participation in the governance system. According to them, non-violence will lead to peaceful, creditable and successful elections. The two spoke when they both appeared on a local radion station in Monrovia.
