The head of a local organization “Our Children Feature Foundation”(OCFF) is calling on well-meaning Liberians and philanthropists for assistance. Madam Josephine Barclay said the Organization has been engaged with assisting rural women with sanitary pads and other items whenever the World Menstrual day celebration approaches.
The OCFF boss noted that officials of the organization are finding it difficult this time to fully underwrite the cause of this year’s celebration due to low budgetary constrain. Madam Josephine Barclay who is also the founder and Executive Director of the foundation acknowledged that since the establishment of the foundation back in 2018, more than two thousand rural women and girls have benefited from the organization’s initiatives.
She narrated that there are lots of challenges women and girls in the rural part of the country are going through; something according to her needs urgent attention.
Madam Barclay lamented that government alone cannot do everything in the country, and as such, local organizations and NGOs should be strongly involved in keeping with the development and good health of the people.
Our Children Future Foundation boss mentioned that officials of the foundation are energized on improving the capacity of rural women and girls across Liberia as part of their plans in making a complete change. Speaking to Journalists on Monday, May 9, 2022, in Monrovia, Madam Barclay said, “There are lots more our organization has planned to do in terms of molding the minds of women and girls residing in the rural part of the country. Once rural women are educated on menstrual issues in the country, they will try to avoid too many critical issues that are normally resolved by nurses and doctors at the various hospitals and clinics across the country, she mentioned”.
Despite the financial constraints, the organization has planned to officially start the distribution of some sanitary pads at the Peter Sarkonlon orphan center in Bomi County beginning Sunday, May 22, 2022, and climax activities on Sunday, May 28, 2022, in Montserrado County.
