Ombudsman Reaffirms Ethical Stand

Urged Students To ‘Do Little Things Right’

Monrovia, Liberia – On Tuesday, December 9, the Office of the Ombudsman, through its Executive Director Cllr. Findley Karnga, reiterated its dedication to upholding Liberia’s Code of Conduct, using the conclusion of a one-day engagement to urge citizens and students to maintain moral behavior in public institutions, schools, and communities.

Additionally, Cllr. Karnga stated that his Ombudsman office is once again dedicated to bolstering moral governance in Liberia, stressing that significant national transformation starts with regular people doing “the little things” well.

The Ombudsman’s leadership praised stakeholders for their support during the program, which was attended by government officials, partners, and school representatives. They also highlighted the staff members’ tireless efforts that made the event a success.

Nonetheless, partners from the Financial Intelligence Agency, the Governance Commission, African Global Logistics, and a number of other organizations were commended for their financial and moral support in advancing integrity across the country.

The Ombudsman Executive Director emphasized the significance of individual accountability, self-control, and adherence to regulations in an impassioned speech aimed at students. These principles were formerly connected to establishments such as Tubman High School but are currently in decline.

Instead of depending just on school administration, he encouraged students to take an active role in enhancing their learning environment. “We must take action. You cannot do big things if you are unable to do the little things,” warning students against paying or accepting bribes and urging them to reject corrupt offers from teachers or community members,” Cllr. Karnga narrated.

He also emphasized that the struggle for accountability goes beyond the government, urging families to demand that public servants return underutilized resources and account for the money allotted to them.
