Over 150 Fraud Experts Gained Special Training To Strengthen Financial Integrity Across Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – Following a rigorous three-day fraud examination symposium in Paynesville, over 150 experts from the public and private sectors were certified to identify, stop, and fight financial and procurement fraud.

Certified fraud examiners, auditors, attorneys, financial investigators, compliance officers, bankers, and law enforcement professionals attended the seminar, which was organized by the Liberia Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Chapter #198.

The conference, which took place at Paynesville City Hall from November 27 to December 2, 2025, was centered on bolstering the country’s ability to recognize fraud threats and improve accountability systems. Participants in the course were thoroughly instructed on how to recognize red flags and fraud schemes in asset management and procurement, as well as how to integrate fraud risks into enterprise risk management.

Speaking, Atty. Augustine G. Chenoway, President of the ACFE Liberia Chapter, called the recently certified group a “vital chain in Liberia’s accountability network,” stressing that each member now plays a critical role in preserving ethical leadership and transparency throughout their respective institutions.

He told journalists, “We are thrilled that more people are honing their fraud skills today.” We hope that their job will get better and that they will make more of an effort to stop fraud. Yes, Liberia is a developing nation, but in order to solve these problems successfully, we must make investments in digital systems and technological expertise.

Janet Jackson, a certified fraud examiner and auditor, praised the organizers and said the conference was transformative. “My colleagues and I would want to offer our sincere gratitude for the training. It was really astounding.” Madam Jackson explained, “We now have the knowledge, skills, and techniques to identify, combat, and arrest financial and procurement fraud.”

Liberia’s expanding battle against corruption has benefited greatly from the certification, which strengthens the movement for better governance and more stringent scrutiny in both public and private institutions.
