Over 70 Women Undergo Intensive Weaving Training at Lofa Women Weaving Center

Kolahun District, Lower Lofa – The Lofa Women Weaving Center is now hosting a one-month intensive weaving training program for more than 70 women from Lower Lofa communities. By equipping local women with useful traditional weaving skills, the program hopes to increase their economic independence.

Many of the trainees expressed their sincere gratitude for the chance when Reports231 Media Network  Junior Salay visited the institute. They particularly thanked Ma Mary Kpoto, whose work they believe was crucial in bringing the program to Lofa County. Additionally, the women commended President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr. for his support for the programs that encourage local craftsmanship and uplift rural women.

The participants report that in addition to teaching them new skills, the training is promoting harmony and cooperation among women from all across the country. They believe that by using the expertise they have acquired, they will be able to create superior woven goods that they can sell to help their families and communities.

The one-month program continues as trainers work closely with the women to strengthen their weaving techniques, business skills, and understanding of the cultural significance of Lofa’s renowned textile heritage. Local officials said they hope initiatives like these will go on since they are essential to maintaining traditional arts and fostering economic growth throughout Lofa County.
