Paynesville, – The Monrovia City Corporation through its Chesemanburg Landfill Urban Sanitation Project (CLUS) Project Implementation Unit (PIU) on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Paynesville City Hall, donated several chemical materials to the Management of Paynesville City Corporation (PCC), a fulfillment of CLUS Project Commitment to give support to the Paynesville City Cooperation (PCC) for Solid Waste Management.

The products supplied included 10 cartoons of Fresta Milk, 4 cartoons of Chlorpyrifos, and 1 cartoon of Deltamethrin to help the city of Paynesvillelie combat air pollution and insects brought on by waste from several collection sites.

The donation was made in fulfillment of the CLUS Project’s commitment to providing assistance to Monrovia, Paynesville, and their surrounding environments regarding solid waste collections, disposals, and other environmental issues, said Atty. Edwin Johnson, who is the CLUS Project Coordinator for the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), during remarks at the ceremony.

According to Atty Johnson, the materials are needed to fumigate waste at collection locations inside the City of Paynesville and address the problem of insects that pose a health risk to the locals.

“It has been established over time that the two cities have had difficulties with the regular timing of waste removal from collection points, and with such a condition, it seeks to transition into insects, so the project seeking to be consistent, we thought it wise to provide chemical to the cities of Monrovia.”

According to Attorney Edwin Johnson, before the materials were donated, environmentalists were taught how to use different chemicals to spray where trash had been dumped following waste collection in order to keep the various collection sites clean and prevent health risks.

The Paynesville City Cooperation’s mayoress, Madam Hawa D. Sheriff Donbah, praised MCC through the CLUS Project for its donations over the years, saying that they would aid in the fight against insects that pose a threat to the environment’s ability to collect trash.

“I am excited today as this is not the first time for said donations, we have received Tricycles, Front-end Loaders, and several other items from Project Implementation Unit(PIU) which is welcoming, we also want to appreciate them for the items as it will be used to keep all of the collections sites clean after the waste been collected.”
