Monrovia-A group of Doctors from various hospitals across the country has officially Launched the Pediatric Association of Liberia. The program was held under the theme: Intersectoral collaboration in improving maternal and child Health, the Road map to National Development. The official launching ceremony brought together a cross-section of professionals including Doctors, officials of government, civil society organizations, and the public and private sectors amongst others.
Giving an overview of the program, the president of the Association Doctor Cecelia Nuta said the essence of the Launched is to promote the disbursement of Information and knowledge about child health to Liberians and support others who support the well-being of children.
The association is also to promote the appreciation of pediatric and child health practices among medical and health professionals in Liberia; encourage and promote research in all areas and in all aspects of pediatric and child health and disseminate information on issues affecting children.
It is to remain in the confirm of the law as they promote, encourage, engaged, and advocate for all activities that will help meet the need of children in the country. The vision of the association is to have a Nation where every child in Liberia can grow to achieve his or her full potential she narrated.
The PAL boss noted that the country now has medical Doctors that are trained as Liberian pediatricians specializing in different aspects. According to her, they realized that due to the establishment of the post-graduate college of physicians and surgeons. She at the same time called on Liberians to keep the college functioning to provide quality training for all medical Doctors.
The association, according to Madam Nuta, will take the lead in promoting the health of newborns, children, and adolescents in Liberia through advocacy, information dissemination, and implementation of targeted programs that will enhance the lives of Liberian children. Other professional associations partners will include UNICEF, WHO, corporate public, and private entities, and individuals.
She narrated that the establishment of the practice of medicine in Liberia has automatically transformed along the establishment with the prospect of medicine and that Doctors must be treated as per their training and must be given all courtesies. The program was held Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Monrovia City Hall.
