Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has called on all Liberians including Muslim to embrace the spirit of Togetherness. President Boakai made the speech on Wednesday, June 3, 2024, during the Islamic Prayer Service Program held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town in honor of the 2024 Liberian Muslim Hajj Pilgrims.

“Let us set aside our differences and work hand in hand towards the common goal of national development.”

President asserted that all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, creed, or status, must participate in the path to progress and prosperity and that by working together, they may improve the future for present and future generations.

“Let us keep in mind that our oneness as a country is what gives us strength as we come together for this unique prayer session. Liberia is a shining example of diversity because of its multitude of cultures, languages, and faiths. However, the foundation of our national identity is our togetherness in variety.”

More than ever, according to Boakai, everyone has to promote unity because they know that when they work together, they can overcome any obstacle and create a thriving Liberia for both current generations and future ones.

According to the Liberian leader, the return of Muslims from the Hajj pilgrimage signifies a moment for introspection, rebirth, and a shared dedication to the values of harmony, peace, and progress.

The President added that social and economic advancement are essential to the prosperity of the country. President Boakai revealed that his government is dedicated to ensuring that no Liberian is left behind by providing opportunity for everybody.

“Our tireless efforts are directed at constructing a strong economy that raises the standard of living for all citizens, creates jobs, and upgrades infrastructure. But only with concerted effort and unwavering dedication will this goal be achieved.”

“I believe that our religious leaders play a crucial role. You are our society’s moral compass, its voices of optimism, and its defenders of decent behavior. Our people’s hearts and minds are affected by you even outside the boundaries of your houses of worship.”

At the same time, President Boakai called on all leaders to keep up their integrity-driven leadership, to encourage positive change, and to support social justice and economic empowerment. She said that leaders should never forget that they are also mothers and fathers who want the best for their children.

“Let’s foster a culture that values education, makes healthcare available, and supports entrepreneurship. By doing this, we shall establish a thriving Liberia where each citizen’s goals and desires can come true.”

The President emphasized that Muslims and Liberians should live by the values of empathy, respect, and understanding, and that their deeds should be motivated by a strong sense of duty to our nation and fellow citizens.
