Monrovia, Liberia – Six partisans have been immediately suspended for an indefinite period of time by the People’s Liberation Party through the National Executive Committee and GAC, and their actions have been referred to the Grievance and Ethics Committee for investigation. At a press conference held on Friday, April 21, 2023, in Monrovia, PLP Chairman Bernard Benson Jr. stated that it is incomprehensible that other political parties, who took part in all of the Collaboration discussions and agreed at the just-concluded Special National Conversation that the party should be directed to the Coalition for Democratic Change, would not have accepted the decision.
The Montserrado County District #17 Representative Hopeful claimed that the six PLP partisans violated Article 13: of the party Constitution, which called for Immediate Removal from office, and that their actions had a negative impact on the party by bringing it into contempt, ridicule, or disrepute. He also claimed that the People Liberation Party is disturbed by recent radio statements made by Jerry Kollie, a former Chairman of the PLP Bong County chapter.
Chairman Benson continued, “It is saddening that the former Bong County Chairman and others will choose to use the airwaves without first exploring all of the options open to him and others before his widespread publication that brought the party into disrepute in the public.”
Chairman Bernard Benson named: Mr. Jerry K. Kollie -Bong County Chairman
Mr. Mohammed A. Bility – Margibi county Chairman
J. Emmanuel Greene – Grand Cape Mount County Chairman
Mr. Oscar Holmes – Bomi County Chairman
Mrs. Evelyn Yarkollie-Morris – Nimba County Chair
Mr. Abraham Sirleaf-Montserrado County.
The People’s Liberation Party Chairman maintained that the allegation being made by Mr. Kollie against the National Executive Committee of the party is untrue and lacks logical reasoning as such, his statement should not be taken seriously.
Noting that the statement does not represent the PLP at any level and that his activities have the potential to harm the party’s overall interests, he advised the public not to do business with any of the people previously mentioned.
