Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has acknowledged the numerous contributions made by Liberia’s Muslim population. In remarks made on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, during the Iftar Dinner with the Muslim Community at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, President Boakai said he recognizes the significant role Muslims have played in the country’s progress.
According to him, Liberia is a land of diverse faiths and cultures, but full with one people, bound by a common destiny. The Liberian president explained that his administration is still strongly dedicated to promoting religious tolerance, guaranteeing equitable opportunities for all, and fortifying the connections that bind all Liberians together in maintaining the vibrant climate of concord.
He added that the holy month serves as a reminder to everyone of the need of showing compassion and charity to those who are less fortunate.
“The nation’s prayerful hope is that the spirit of Ramadan will continue to inspire everyone to work together in peace and solidarity for the betterment of Liberia. Let us reaffirm our dedication to love, justice, tolerance, and national unity as we break our fast together tonight in this solemn and peaceful setting,” President Boakai said.
President Boakai however urged Muslims and Liberians to pray for a unified, successful, and peaceful Liberia where all citizens, irrespective of their origin or religion, may succeed and advance the country as a whole.
In his view, Muslims become closer to Allah throughout Ramadan by fasting, praying, and performing charitable deeds. It is a time of introspection, dedication, and self-control.
According to the president, Ramadan serves as a reminder to everyone of the importance of compassion, solidarity, and selflessness in creating a more resilient and welcoming Liberia.
“As we commemorate the holy month of Ramadan, it is with great honor that I join you again for this evening’s Iftar supper. We all still have happy recollections of our time spent together in this same building on a similar occasion, I’m sure,” he stated.
