Expressing Strategic Vision For Liberia’s Ports.

Monrovia, Liberia – Reiterating his Administration’s support for projects that improve infrastructure, governance, and economic growth, President Joseph N. Boakai has praised the National Port Authority’s (NPA) leadership for their proactive approach to improving port operations.

The President made these remarks after receiving a 14-month performance report from the NPA Leadership detailing major accomplishments and long-term goals for Liberia’s port infrastructure, according to a statement from the Executive Mansion.

He commended the NPA’s efforts to increase operational effectiveness and promised the full support of his government to make Liberia’s ports competitive in the West African region.

“The NPA serves as the gateway to Liberia’s economy. Its efficiency and development are important to our country’s economic viability,” President Boakai stated.

He went on to say that, “My Administration remains committed to supporting the NPA in achieving world-class standards that will facilitate trade, attract investment, and drive national progress.”

NPA Managing Director Sekou H. Dukuly gave a thorough overview of the organization’s accomplishments, difficulties, and financial results throughout the previous 12 months during the meeting.

In order to match international standards and promote Liberia’s economic development, he also laid out strategic reforms targeted at modernizing and renovating all of the nation’s ports.  Dukuly underlined the NPA’s commitment to openness, responsibility, and operational excellence while stressing continuous initiatives to fortify the marine industry.

“Our leadership is committed to modernizing and developing infrastructure, making sure that Liberia’s ports run smoothly, cutting expenses and enhancing service delivery,” he said.

MD Dukuly also told President Boakai that the NPA is reviewing current concessions and contracts, including the APM Terminals Concession, to make sure they are transparent, competitive, and in line with the government’s objective of creating a climate that is conducive to business.

Julius Goodin, a board member (former DMO, since retired), James Barnard, the Deputy Managing Director for Administration, and Honorable J. Luther Tarpeh, the Chairman of the NPA Board of Directors, attended the meeting.

Mr. Sekou B. Korleh, Executive Director for Governmental & International Affairs, and Ms. Raquel Clinton, Senior Director/Training Department, were among the other senior NPA officials in attendance.

In addition to improving Liberia’s port infrastructure and playing a crucial part in sustainable economic growth, the President wishes that the National Port Authority would continue to be dedicated to putting international best practices into effect.
