Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberian team, led by President Joseph N. Boakai and Mrs. Kartumu Y. Boakai, has arrived in Bali, Indonesia, to begin their participation in the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF). September 1, 2024 – An Executive Mansion release states that the delegation arrived late on Saturday, August 31, 2024, after traveling for about thirty hours. They are preparing for the event, which will be held at the Mulia Hotel in Bali from September 1 to September 3, 2024.

A number of African leaders will be present when the President speaks at the forum’s Joint Leaders Session, including H.E. Paul Kagame of Rwanda, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, H.E. Russell Mmiso Dlamini, the prime minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, H.E. Xanana Gusmao, the prime minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, and H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, the president of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council.

Along with his counterpart from Indonesia, H.E. Outgoing President Joko Widodo and H.E. Incoming President Prabowo Subianto are also slated to meet with President Boakai. The Liberian Leader will also meet with management of Golden Veroleum (GVL) Company, an oil palm company that operates in Sinoe, a Southeast County in Liberia.

At different sessions, other delegation members will address important figures in the fields of agriculture, food security, education, technology, and investments. Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2018, the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum seeks to boost economic cooperation between Indonesia and African countries.

The forum will focus on common values and principles to build sustainable and inclusive partnerships between Indonesia and Africa, with the topic being “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063.”

The event aims to substantially benefit both societies; it is not merely a forum for discussion. The forum aims to promote collaboration, share ideas, and provide a foundation for significant economic cooperation by bringing together leaders in business, academia, government, and other stakeholders from Africa and Indonesia.

Honorable Mamaka Bility, Minister of State Without Portfolio; Dr. Alexander Nuetah, Minister of Agriculture; Honorable Nathanial Barway, Representative District #1, Grand Kru County; and Honorable Sylvester Grisgsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, complete the President’s Official Delegation.

With 47 African countries taking part in the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum, it is expected that the African countries in attendance and Indonesia would come to significant agreements and collaborations.

To attend the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in the People’s Republic of China, the President and delegation will leave Bali, Indonesia on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
