Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has called for closer cooperation between Liberia and Canada; he said, the effective cooperation will determine Liberia’s future. Speaking September 19, 2024, at the 2024 Liberia Investment Forum 2024 in Toronto, Canada. President Boakai stated that Liberia progress has shown stabilization of its democracy and improving infrastructure is just the beginning.

The Liberian leader informed the gathering that, Liberia is on the path to economic transformation; adding that with the help of Canadian investors, Liberia will be on the path to development. He said Liberia is ready for investment because of its recent political stability, growing infrastructure, and ambitious economic changes.

President Boakai said, Liberia’s dedication to sustainable development is shown in the concentration of important industries including tourism, mining, energy, and agriculture by his government. According to the Liberian Leader, Liberia is at a turning point where political stability and economic reforms are lining up to make the country attractive for investment.

According to the President, Liberia is open for business, the forum offers a special chance for Canadian investors to visit Liberia and support national development. He said , Liberia has seen notable changes in road connection over time, especially in rural areas, which will create fresh trade and investment opportunities.

“We invite Canadian businesses to explore these untapped opportunities, especially in agriculture and infrastructure development.”

President Boakai revealed that the mining industry of Liberia still draws a lot of foreign interest.
Companies like ArcelorMittal have already made large iron ore mining investments, according to Boakai, which helps to create infrastructure and employment.

“The mining sector, with its potential for iron ore, gold, and diamond extraction, remains a critical area for foreign investment. Canadian expertise can help us fully realize the potential of our mineral resources.”

The President did, however, recognize Liberia’s difficulties with power supply, but also expressed hope for the nation’s future with appropriate alliances. President Boakai spoke on the critical role of Liberians in Canada; adding, they contribute not only to Liberia’s economy, but also to Canadian society.
