Monrovia, Liberia – Distinguished Leaders of the Muslim Community,
Fellow Citizens
I bring you greetings in the sacred name of Almighty Allah, the Omniscient, the most Merciful, and the most Beneficent.
Every year during the Month of Ramadan, Muslims in Liberia join other believers around the world to fast and pray. This solemn duty helps in many ways to reawaken their spiritual consciousness and to strengthen the bonds that unite them.
The divine blessings and benefits they beseech the Almighty for are however not exclusively limited to the Muslim Community. In verse ninety-two of the twenty-first chapter of the Holy Qur’an, Allah says, “This nation of yours is one nation and I am your Lord, so worship Me”.
The belief in the supremacy, mercy and compassion of God has always been the cornerstone of our existence and the source of our strength. In spite of our diversity, this faith in the Almighty is our common heritage and should therefore be the foundation upon which we must continue our journey to build a united country.
I need not remind you that Liberians are so interrelated that the acts and experiences of one group of citizens at least indirectly and invariably impact the others.
It is therefore my hope that we all strive for greater national unity and cohesiveness. For, understanding that we are essentially one people created by One God is the key to fostering the spirit of togetherness.
Hence, as our Muslim Brethren devoutly seek the favor and pleasure of Almighty Allah during this holy season, let prayers for the peace, tranquility, and progress of our Common Patrimony take center stage in our mosques and prayer sites.
Let us all in concert supplicate in the solemnity of our resolve to THINK LIBERIA, LOVE LIBERIA and BUILD LIBERIA.
AllahuโAkhbar!
