Monrovia, Liberia – The President of Liberia, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, has, with immediate effect, mandated all former government officials to turn over public assets that are still in their positions.

According to Presidential Press Secretary Madam Kula Fofana on Friday, February 2, 2024, during a press briefing, all public assets are to be delivered to the General Services Agency (GSA).

She stated that the President has constituted a government asset retrieval team; the team will identify, trace, and retrieve all assets in Liberia or abroad. The assets retriever team will be charged with investigating assets and working with the relevant agency to prosecute those found criminally liable.

“The President is asking all former government officials, in and out of Liberia, to please turn over assets belonging to the government if you have not done that.”

The president’s action is a result of former government officials’ failure to deliver government property to the General Services Agency.

As the hallmark of public service, President Boakai has placed an emphasis on the highest standards of devotion, integrity, and patriotism. He has been pushing government staff to uphold and exercise these values at all times.
