Pres. Boakai Visits Christian Foundation Deaf School in Nimba County

Gompa City, Nimba County – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has emphasized the value of inclusive education and the welfare of individuals with disabilities during a courtesy visit to the Christian Foundation Deaf School in Gompa City, Nimba County. The visit took place on Monday, January 19, 2026, shortly after the President gave a speech at Liberia’s first National Infrastructure Conference after the war.

During the ceremony, President Boakai emphasized the vital role that community-based institutions play in educating and caring for some of Liberia’s most underprivileged children and emphasized that inclusive education is still a major part of his administration’s development goal.

The President commended the Christian Foundation Deaf School for its long history of promoting social integration and inclusive education while addressing the faculty, staff, and students. “As a Government, we appreciate your role in helping our children. No child should be left behind, regardless of disability,” President Boakai said. “This Government supports inclusion, and we will stand by individuals and organizations that complement our national efforts.”

The President assured stakeholders that his Administration will collaborate closely with the Ministry of Education and pertinent partners to enhance facilities, supply educational materials, and fortify policies that promote inclusive education throughout the nation. He also noted that the Institution’s mission is in line with the goals of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

President Boakai promised the school administration ongoing support to improve student learning outcomes and boost operations. Principal Emmanuel T. Gaye thanked President Boakai on behalf of the institution for emphasizing inclusive education and the rights of people with disabilities.

Principal Gaye listed a number of difficulties the school has faced since its founding, such as limitations on student food, the requirement for more dorm space, and monthly assistance for staff and skill trainers.

He clarified that the school was established on Christian principles and that its goals were to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the deaf community, offer high-quality, standard education, inspire hope, and advance the full inclusion of people with disabilities as equal members of society.

Thirty-nine (39) girls and thirty-one (31) boys make up the school’s current enrollment of seventy (70) students, with fifty-two (52) of them living on campus, according to the principal. Principal Gaye revealed the institution’s future goals, which include building a specialized vocational training center, expanding its vocational and skills training programs to include wood workshop, tire repair, soap making, beekeeping, carpentry, home arts, and computer skills.
