In light of his reelection as leader of the second-largest economy in the world, President George Manneh Weah has sent his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping of China. On Friday, March 10, the Chinese National People’s Congress unanimously voted to extend President Xi’s term as president by an additional five years.

The strong links that have already been established between the two nations since the start of diplomatic relations in 1977, according to President Weah, will be further strengthened.

He claimed that over the years, Liberia and China have worked together in a way that has been advantageous to both countries. The President mentioned China’s interventions in the country’s infrastructure and health sectors as highly effective initiatives for which the Liberians are still appreciative.

He said he looked forward to dealing with the seasoned Chinese leader on both bilateral and international issues.

At the 14th National People’s Congress, which is currently in session, Xi Jinping was unanimously chosen to serve as both president of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and head of the Central Military Commission (CMC).
