President George Manneh Weah praised six political parties’ leaders, including the Movement for Economic Empowerment, for joining forces with the existing order to create the great Coalition for Democratic Change. According to the Liberian Leader, this will represent a significant expansion of the CDC into a broad-based political movement that unites a variety of unique and numerous elements in Liberian society under a single, overarching political organization.

Speaking on behalf of the CDC Leadership on Saturday, April 8, 2023, the Liberian Chief Executive welcomed MOVEE partisans and other poitical parties, and urged them to place their trust in the CDC, expressing their belief in the CDC’s vision for the country by doing so. As the primary tenet of the pro-poor development program, President Weah mentioned that the party was founded primarily to further the interests of the Liberian people.

He asserted that the goal is vital in everything they do as public servants. According to President Weah, the six political parties have finished the necessary paperwork for officials and the general public to support the union.

The six new political parties include, the late Dr. Daniel E. Cassell’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Union for Liberia Democrat (ULD), United People’s Party (UPP), Redemption Democrati Congress (RDC), Change Democrati Action (CDA), and the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE).

Mr. Weah noted that the Grand Coalition document that was signed should now be officially consummated as a result. “Together, we will constitute a 9-member strong bloc with the sole aim of improving the quality of life for the Liberian people; I need not over-emphasize how MIGHTY that is; Collectively, I predict that our Grand Coalition will be an indomitable force.”

The CDC was given the ongoing commitment by President Weah to forge new relationships as well as strengthen the ones it already had. ”I think a diversified union, like the one we’re forming today, offers our political system a range of viewpoints, which is essential for the growth and harmony of the country.”

The stander bearer the CDC noted that he has interacted with many of the party leaders for the reform of the nation throughout life and even after he took office as president of the Republic of Liberia. He insisted that he has had excellent and enduring personal relationships with a few political figures.

”As we all set out together to work for the Liberian people, I’m hopeful that this dynamic will assist to bolster our recently formed friendship.”

The Liberian Leader emphasized that CDC is a grass-roots movement that represents the hope of the average person and that it has always been the party of the masses. This has been the case since the time of its formation.

Mr. Weah asserted that the CDC had supported the rights of the oppressed. He continued that the ruling party, have developed policies and development initiatives that are primarily focused on enhancing the conditions of the poor. The Liberian Leader mentioned policies that exempt secondary and tertiary students from paying tuition, infrastructure upgrades, the building of hospitals, housing units, and parks, as well as the construction of hundreds of kilometers of roads, including those that lead to markets in rural areas all over the nation. Large and small-scale development projects continue to sprout in various places across the country.

”It is these enormous undertakings that we have managed to pull off in so short a time, that will be presented to the Liberian people in October of this year as our proud track record, and as the basis for requesting a second mandate to complete the works that we have already begun across the Nation.’
