Liberia President George Manneh Weah has arrived in the country after attending series of high-profile meetings both in Africa and out of Africa. The Liberian Leader departed the country on May 27, 2022, to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea to attend an African Union Summit. Whiles in Malabo, President Weah spoke about the issue of terrorism on the African continent, the issue of unconstitutional changes in African countries, and pledge Liberia’s support of one million United State Dollars to the AU Humanitarian aid in Africa.
Mr. Weah paid a courtesy visit to the new Head of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who succeded the late UAE President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Liberian Leader conveyed his condolences to the leadership and people of UAE over the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. President Weah expressed Liberia’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the UAE through constructive alliances that would benefit the country’s development model. As part of his State visit to the United Arab Emirates, President George Weah met with Emirati millionaire Shamsheer Vayalil. Investments in Liberia’s healthcare industry were the topic of the conversation.
The Liberia leader before returning to the country attended ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit in Accra, Ghana. The meeting in line with the AU conference in Malabo saw members of ECOWAS States discuss the Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Mali situations in which President Weah fully participated. Mr. Weah again spoke on maintaining peace within the region, especially on the continent. He warned that the issue of unconstitutional change of power is a serious threat to the peace and development of the continent.
