Tangier, Morocco – President George Manneh Weah has urged ECOWAS members to seek out and uphold democratic principles. Mr. Weah renewed his demand for peace in Guinea, Mali, and Burkina Faso and urged Liberia, Cape Verde, and the rest of West Africa to do the same. According to President Weah, there are a number of bilateral and multilateral interests between Liberia and Cape Verde that should be investigated for the benefit of the populations of both nations and ECOWAS as a whole.

On Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Tangier, the Liberian Leader made the claims during a courtesy visit from H.E. Jose Maria Pereira Neves, the President of Cape Verde, who was attending the MEDays International Forum. As usual, President Weah used the occasion to extend an invitation to businesspeople from Cape Verde to invest in a variety of industries in Liberia, including tourism and hospitality, agriculture, maritime transport, and aviation.

According to the Executive Mansion, President Pereira Neves thanked Mr. Weah for the meeting and emphasized the importance of stronger ties between the two nations. He committed to working with the Liberian President to ensure a Cape Verde plane flies to Liberia.

Meanwhile, In order to be seen as excellent ambassadors of Liberia through their departments, President George Manneh Weah has urged the Liberian population living in the Kingdom of Morocco to be respectful, responsible, and law-abiding while overseas. According to Mr. Weah, the diaspora of Liberians has a bright future and may achieve any goal as long as they live peacefully and according to the law. On November 4, 2022, at the Movenpick Hotel in Tangier, he addressed the Liberian community, which included students, locals, and political supporters. President Weah warned the Liberians living in Morocco to keep in mind that their actions would reflect poorly on Liberia since they represent the name and reputation of their nation.

The residents and students raised a number of issues during the interactive forum, including the difficulties they had in renewing their passports and the wait times for their per diems. President Weah made a commitment to the community and to the students that he would work with the appropriate government agencies to address issues like timely passport renewal and student per diem payments.
