New York, USA – Over 140 international leaders, including President George Manneh Weah, are present for the beginning of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in New York, USA. The Liberian President is expected to address the world tomorrow, September 20, 2023, from the podium at the assembly.

According to the Executive Mansion, President Weah is anticipated to reaffirm his unwavering commitment to upholding a free, fair, inclusive, and transparent election to the UNGA and the rest of the world. He will likely also urge everyone to work together to combat terrorism in Africa and around the world, confront climate change, advance democracy, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

UNGA is a yearly occasion that gathers world leaders for a high-level discussion that looks back and tackles current global challenges. The 78th Session of UNGA is being held under the theme: “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on The 2030 Agenda and Its SDGs Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability For All.”
