President George Manneh Weah has pleaded with President Joseph R. Biden and the American government to maximize assistance to Liberia’s Elections in 2023 as a method to consolidate democracy, and rule of law, and boost prosperity and development in Liberia and Africa as a whole. At the White House in Washington, D.C., where President Biden was accompanied by a small group of him and five other African leaders, the President made the call. During the US-Africa Leaders Summit in 2022, discussions about elections, democracy, the rule of law, and development will take place.
According to the Executive Mansion, President Weah reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to the democratic principles of popular sovereignty. “I have taken part in several elections, and even when the outcomes were unfavorable, we honored the results. Under my administration’s watch, the election in 2023 will be free, fair, and transparent, and Liberia will continue to be a bulwark of democracy, peace, prosperity, and growth.”
President Biden urged the leaders there to make sure that the democratic process is carried out under their direction in a free, fair, and transparent manner. He pledged US support for the expansion of the continent’s ideals of democracy, the rule of law, peace and security, and growth.
Tomorrow, December 15, 2022, President Weah will attend the Leaders Forum alongside other world leaders and the US President. He is expected to present a report to the plenary on issues such as peace and security, resource mobilization for development, youth capacity building, and the sustainable use of natural resources on the continent, according to the Executive Mansion.
