Pres. Weah Signs Over USD$782 million annual budget into Law

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Budget for the 2023 Fiscal Year has been signed into law by President George Manneh Weah, after being approved by the National Legislature. The Liberian Leader signed the L$122,139,108,000.00 (or US$782,943,000.00) budget on Monday, April 10, 2023.

According to the Executive Mansion, the 54th National Legislature’s two chambers reached agreement on the budget after months of in-depth review, which included public hearings, and sent it to the president’s office for signature.

The National Budget was previously submitted to the Legislature by the Executive Branch of Government via the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, as required by law. Three distinct revenue envelopes tax revenue, non-tax revenue, and external resources are taken into account in the 2023 National Budget.

The budget accordingly becomes a law after being printed on handbills, the Executive Mansion report.
