Pres. Weah Suspends Import Tariffs on Agriculture Products and Materials

Monrovia, Release – President George Weah has suspended import tariffs on agricultural products and materials with immediate effects. President Weah’s action is contained in Executive Order #115 issued Monday, January 23, 2023, in Monrovia aimed at solidifying the gains realized under Executive Order No. 106 and continuing to accelerate the forestry and agricultural development sectors in Liberia.

According to the Executive Mansion, the Liberian President’s move aims to demonstrate the government’s commitment to fostering a stable and stable macroeconomic climate conducive to private sector-driven economic growth, increased competitiveness, and economic diversification.

The Order is in line with the PAPD of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), a manifesto intended to help Liberians escape poverty. It is designed to support the Government’s and its international partners’ determination to make significant progress in boosting the agriculture industry by collaborating with important market participants to lower the cost of agriculture for farmers, including through farm development and management, aggregation, and other methods.
