Monrovia, Liberia – Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, has congratulated the Vatican City State’s government and citizens, the Apostolic Episcopal See of the Bishop of Rome, Ex Cathedra, and the Universal Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the World Catholic Church on the 96th anniversary of the state’s founding on February 11.
A statement from the Foreign Ministry stated that President Boakai congratulated His Holiness Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church and the sovereign of the Vatican City State, on behalf of the Republic of Liberia’s government and citizens, as well as in his own name.
President Boakai expressed his delight in recognizing the Vatican’s and Liberia’s long-standing and dependable connection, which was demonstrated during their meeting last year they prayed and talked about achieving social justice and world peace.
The Liberian leader stated that the relationship between Liberia and the Vatican had produced many advantages, especially in the area of education, where the Catholic educational system has been essential in producing a constant flow of highly qualified professionals who still support the growth and operation of the two nations.
He said that the Church has made significant contributions to society and the economy, as well as to the defense of human rights and the rule of law. The Liberian Leader prayed that the two countries’ long-standing and treasured friendship would continue to grow.
