Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has declared Wednesday, July 30, 2025, as a National Day of Prayer to be observed throughout the Republic as a National Holiday. According to an Executive Mansion release issued on Monday July 28, 2025, the declaration is in recognition of the enduring grace of God upon the nation and the unyielding spirit of the Liberian people through times of trial and triumph.
It may be recorded that president Boakai in his Independence Day message disclosed that since the founding of Liberia to now, the hand of God has remained ever present. As such, he called on all Liberians, residents, and international partners within the borders of Liberia to come together in solemn prayer and reflection.
“From the founding of our nation, through seasons of trial and triumph, God has remained our guide and the source of our hope, As we look to the future, let us embrace forgiveness of ourselves and one another, for it is only through reconciliation that we can fully heal and move forward as one people,” the President stated.
President Boakai in his address called on citizens from all dimensions to gather in churches, mosques, and other places of worship across the country to seek God’s face and ask for his continued blessing upon the country, and to renew the national covenant for peace, unity, and a reconciled Liberia.
The National Day of Prayer is expected to feature interfaith gatherings, special prayer services, and community-based reflections throughout Liberia. The President however encourages all public and private institutions to observe the day in a manner that promotes spiritual renewal, harmony, and collective purpose.
