President Boakai Suspend LDEA DG Kromah and Two Principal Deputies

FOR ALLEGED POWER STRUGGLE

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has suspended the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency Director General, Abraham Kromah and his two principal deputies, Gbawou Kowou and Hassan Fadiga Deputy Director General for Operations with immediate effect and with out pay.

President Boakai’s decision is the outcome of a continuing dispute between Abraham Kromah, the director general of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, and his two primary deputies.

The President has, in the interim, authorized an investigation into the events that transpired at the Agency on June 3, 2024, according to a communiqué from the Ministry of Information.

The Liberian leader is further quoted in the communication as “the acts of disorder and chaos that took place at the headquarters of the LDEA were unacceptable,” emphasizing how dangerous these actions are to public order and how they jeopardize the government’s efforts to combat illicit substances.

Mr. Christopher Peters has been appointed by President Boakai as the Agency’s Officer in Charge while the investigation is ongoing.
