President-elect Boakai Promises to Audit Weah Administration

VOWS TO MAKE AUDIT REPORT PUBLIC

Monrovia, Liberia – Joseph N. Boakai, the president-elect of the Republic of Liberia, has announced to the world that his administration will conduct an audit of the George Manneh Weah-led outgoing government and make the audit reports available to the public.

Speaking on the Voice of America (VOA) show in America, Amb. Boakai stated on Thursday, December 21, 2023, that the audit’s goals are to enlighten Liberians about the CDC government’s stewardship and guarantee that the incoming administration will run the nation responsibly.

The system would be audited by reliable organisations and foreign partners, according to the former vice president. It is well known that the Unity Party, which is under the leadership of president-elect Boakai, frequently accused the Weah administrator of corruption and poor administrative practices.

The UP made a campaign pledge to audit the Weah administration in order to ensure adequate accountability and prevent Liberia from being embarrassed in the future. These messages resonated with voters, and the UP was able to win reelection in 2023, on November 14, despite losing to the CDC in 2017.
