On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 56 of the 103 lawmakers the majority of whom are from the governing party met at the CDC Headquarters in Congo Town to support President George Weah’s reelection candidacy. As he accepted the endorsement, President Weah informed his supporters and partisans that it was not only a sign of support for their policies and initiatives, but also a sign of his unwavering dedication to the Liberian people.
“Our accomplishments during my first term have been significant. We have improved our nation’s infrastructure, given our youth the tools they need to be agents of change, and attained economic stability that has improved the lives of many Liberians.”
The accomplishments, he added are evidence of the perseverance and tenacity of Liberians. Noting his strong conviction that his vision can alter the nation’s course for progress.
However, he vowed to overcome his rivals in the October elections because of the numerous, enormously successful development measures carried out under his direction, such as macroeconomic stability and transformation of all sectors.
”I am pleased that the entire Legislative Caucus, which comprises a sizable portion of the 54th Legislature of the nation, is backing my leadership and my candidacy in the upcoming elections. Their constant support and endorsement of my campaign, which is a reaffirmation of faith and confidence in me also fuel their will to keep me serving with the highest commitment. Together, we shall mold the destiny of our magnificent country. Not only is victory possible for us, but it is also guaranteed. I am confident that the shrewd and astute Liberians voting will elect us to power.”
The Liberian Leader also assured Liberians that the upcoming elections will be nothing short of a shining example of democracy in action.
