TO WORK HARD AND PROTECT THEIR VOTES
Monrovia, Liberia – In light of government officials’ unwillingness to exert the necessary pressure on Liberians and the Coalition for Democratic Change’s lack of commitment to the electoral process, which ultimately led to their own defeat before the election, President George Weah informed the public that he conceded defeat to Joseph Boakai, the Unity Party’s president-elect.
The CDC lost the 2023 presidential election, according to President Weah, who made this admission in front of a sizable crowd at his Forkayklon Church on Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Payneville. He claimed this was because his party was unable to perform morally during the election process. Boakai UP defeated George Weah CDC with 814,481 votes (or 50.64%), compared to 793,914 votes (or 49.36% for CDC).
There is still discord among government officials, especially in the CDC, according to Liberia’s outgoing leader. He said that a number of his bureaucrats were uncharitable and avoided having real conversations with their own people. President Weah previously expressed regret about his official incapacity to help the general public, especially those in need of basic essentials, labelling it “evil.”
Most Liberians opposed the CDC government not because of Weah’s flaws but rather because his ministers did not act in the best interests of the populace. According to the people, President Weah did not punish these officials because he views most of them as his friends, sons, and daughters, which led to their loss in both the presidential and general elections.
