President Weah Consoles Angola

In response to the passing of Jose Eduardo dos Santos, former president of Angola, who passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the age of 79 after a protracted illness, Liberia President George Manneh Weah has sent a condolence message to his counterpart, Mr. Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, President of the Republic of Angola.

 According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, President Weah sent President Lourenco his sincere condolences for the irreparable loss suffered on behalf of the government and people of Liberia and in his own name. Through him, he also sent condolences to the government and people of Angola, particularly the bereaved family.

 The Liberian Leader stated that former President dos Santos would be remembered as one of the Pan-African leaders and a supporter of freedom in both Africa and the rest of the globe.

 President Weah indicated that it is his prayer and hope for President Lourenco’s courage and comfort during this difficult period of national mourning.
