President Weah Consoles People’s Republic of China

Monrovia, Liberia – Following the death of at least 118 people and several more injuries and missing as a result of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in China, President George Manneh Weah issued a condolence message to Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.

Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai of the People’s Republic of China, saw an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 that caused the death and injuries.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, President George Manneh Weah expressed his sincere condolences to President Xi Jinping of China, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, as well as to the bereaved family for the irreversible loss they had suffered.

The leader of Liberia then prayed for President Xi Jinping and the resilient Chinese people to find strength, courage, and endurance at this trying time of grief. He also wished for a swift recovery for those who had been hurt.
