President Weah Dedicates Clara Town Survivors Sports Park, Describing It ‘A Promise Kept’

Monrovia, Liberia – The Clara Town Survivors Sports Park was built and then dedicated, according to President George Manneh Weah, as a “promise kept” to the residents of the slum community. At the Sports Park’s dedication on Friday, July 21, 2023, President Weah addressed thousands of joyful residents of Clara Town and Doe Community that, as President of the Republic, it was his duty to give back to his people and the area where he had grown up and developed his footballing skills.

He acknowledged that he gave the renovated field the name “Clara Town Survivors Sports Park” as a tribute and memory to all members of the neighborhood who throughout the years have persevered in their fight for a better life. It is recorded that President Weah resided in Gilbrata, Clara Town, and played football for Young Survivors on the field, which was at the time unkempt and muddy.

The Liberian Leader also explained to the locals that despite the criticism he received from his opponents during the 2017 elections and their assertions that he had the qualifications to serve as president, he has done and is continuing to do a lot for Liberians.

President Weah asked the locals to make judicious use of the facility and make sure that everyone may utilize it and enjoy it. He also urged them to maintain the building well and properly for their own gain.

The newly refurbished facility, which sits on 1.6 acres of land, has a basketball court, playing pitch, volleyball, track, and a children playground.
