President George Weah, has delivered pickup trucks and motorbikes to traditional leaders of Liberia, and ambulances to all county health teams of the country.
The provision of 30 pickups, two each for a county, 150 motorbikes, 10 per county, and 1 ambulance each to the 15 county health teams was a fulfillment of his promise to the local leaders who had requested during his nationwide tour last year February 2021.
The donation was made Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the SKD Sports Complex, where multitudes of traditional leaders and counties superintendents from across the 15 counties gathered for the exciting ceremonies.
“This is the promise I made to you during my county tour. Each county asked me for three motorbikes and one vehicle to be able to move around. But I am pleased to give you ten motorbikes and two vehicles per county”, President Weah stated.
According to the President, as a private citizen then, he provided for Liberians from his personal resources and he will, as President of Liberia, do more for the people of Liberia.
“I don’t have to tell you how to use them, but it should serve as a channel in your efforts to help the government, to reach out to different parts of your counties with ease,” Mr. President informed the beneficiaries. He at the same time urged traditional leaders to put dialogue first in every undertaking, rather than fighting.
Giving thanks and appreciation to the Liberian Leader for the gesture, the traditional community thanked President Weah and the government for the donations. They described the donation as a history of local governance in Liberia.
They acknowledge that the vehicles and bikes would ease their movements and also strengthen their capacities to get government policies across to every corner of their areas of leadership.
They pledged their support to President Weah and his administration come 2023 election and promised to spread the good news of the government to the local people throughout the country. The traditional leaders at the same time invoked God’s blessings upon Mr. Weah as he works to elevate the country and involve every citizen.
At the same occasion, Superintendents of various counties expressed delight over the president’s gift to the traditional community. According to them, the donation of vehicles, motorbikes, and ambulances shows the president’s love for the country and people.
Also speaking to Reports231, some youth including the disadvantaged youth cautioned the traditional leaders to use the transportation system to promote the government agenda to the local people. They cautioned their leaders not to use the gift for politics and other means.
