President Weah Nominates Samora Wolokolie Commissioner General of LRA

Monrovia, Liberia – President George Manneh Weah has nominated Samora Wolokolie as the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). According to the Executive Mansion, the Liberian Senate must approve the late-year appointment in accordance with the Liberian Constitution of 1986.

Dr. Wolokolie will take over for the late Thomas Doe Nah, who held the role since 2020 and passed away last month after a protracted illness.

Since the start of the CDC administration in 2018, Dr. Wolokolie has served as the deputy minister of finance and development planning. He also serves as one of the loyalists to the Weah administration.

The nomination has raised serious concern in the public. Many Liberians have called on the Liberian senate not to confirm the appointee, noting that the Weah government has less than a month to make an appointment in such a key position in the country’s governance process.
