President Weah Offers Condolences to Korea after Tragedy of 153 Deaths at Halloween Festival

Monrovia-Liberia, Release-Following the terrible deaths of at least 153 people at the Halloween event in Seoul’s Itaewon District and the injuries of more than hundred (100+) others, President George Manneh Weah has issued a letter of condolence to the government and people of the Republic of Korea. The sad and tragic occurrence took place on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

According to a statement from the foreign ministry, President George Manneh Weah sent His Excellency Mr. Yoon Suk-yeol of the Republic of Korea, and through him, to the Government and People of the Republic of Korea, particularly the bereaved Families, his heartfelt condolences for the irreparable loss sustained on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia.

The Liberian leader stated that during this trying time of suffering and national mourning, the people of Liberia are praying for and thinking of President Yoon Suk-yeol, the bereaved families, and the resilient people of the Republic of Korea. Then, President George Manneh Weah prayed for a speedy recovery to the more than one hundred (100) injured attendees of the Halloween festival on October 29.
