Monrovia, Liberia – The successful completion of the inspiring capacity building training on Public Administration and Modern Governance for Liberia in Beijing, China, has led to a commitment from a number of government officials from different government Ministries and Agencies to pursue transformational and developmental actions.

A capacity training that lasted two weeks was finished by about twenty participants from several ministries and government agencies in Liberia, including the Ministry of State, Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Justice, Liberia Broadcasting System, and Liberia National Police, among others.

The government of the People’s Republic of China, through its Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), arranged the program. The institution’s staff provided lectures and facilitation.

Under the topic “Public Administration and Modern Government for Liberia,” the training was a component of Chinese-Liberia ties and bilateral cooperation, people-to-people interaction, capacity building training, and diplomatic processes.

The program also included in-depth conversations and on-the-ground tours to a number of outstanding places, such as Beijing, Langfang, and Xiamen, which enhanced the participants’ experiences and shed light on the critical role that outstanding leadership plays in China’s history, culture, and development.

The museum and the great wall emphasize the value of conserving local culture and history, reminding them that knowing the heritage is crucial for appreciating the present and the future. Their visit to the Tan Kah Kee Museum gave them insightful knowledge about the life and contributions of Tan Kah Kee to China’s early educational developments.

Prince Menkalo Gbieu, Chief of Office Staff in the Office of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, spoke at the closing ceremony in Beijing and thanked the Chinese government and people for strengthening their relationship and collaboration with Liberia.

He expressed gratitude to Ambassador Yin Chengwu for his crucial help, saying that their participation in the significant occasion would not have been possible without the kind support of the Chinese Embassy in Liberia.

He expressed gratitude for AIBO’s steadfast dedication to Liberia’s success and says the training has paved the road for shared growth, allowing them to draw strength from their combined experiences and work together to achieve the countries’ shared goals.

“We are motivated to take on new challenges and work for revolutionary initiatives. We have been motivated to imagine a new course for Liberia’s development by the five presentations that addressed China’s national landscape, its own modernization route, economic policies, and sociopolitical frameworks. They provide us a framework for negotiating our own routes toward both domestic growth and international collaboration, in addition to shedding light on China’s achievements and difficulties,” Gbieu claimed.

He explained that the seminar serves as a reminder that Liberia’s collaboration with China is essential to efficient administration, and he emphasized that they feel their understanding of China and its people has grown as a result of the lectures and on-site experiences they have had.

Gbieu emphasizes that above all, the training has strengthened their will to create efficient public administration and promote cooperation in order to propel Liberia toward prosperity in line with China’s aspirational modernization objectives.

Additionally, the Vice President of Liberia’s Chief of Office Staff reassured the partners in Liberia and China-Liberia relations that they are hopeful the knowledge gained will support their current development projects, especially under President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST agenda, which prioritizes inclusive public management and improved governance in Liberia.

He added that the inspiration they received from the various experiences and viewpoints presented during the training will be crucial in promoting creative practices throughout government institutions and communities as they get ready to return to Liberia.

“As Liberia moves forward, it is critical that we implement creative tactics to support economic expansion by creating special economic zones. Investment, industrialization, and the creation of jobs will all benefit from this. We recognize that the People’s Republic of China has made tremendous efforts to promote major investments in Liberia, particularly through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). By working together, we can expand on these efforts to create a future that is open, responsible, and inclusive,” Gbieu stated.
