Monrovia, Liberia – In order to monitor progress and ensure conformance to government timetables, Public Works Minister Roland Layfette Giddings visited many active road construction projects around Montserrado County on his first official infrastructure inspection tour of 2026.

The visit takes place precisely three months after the Ministry of Public Works announced October 15, 2025, as the official start date for all civil works around the country. Contractors were given stringent instructions to adhere to predetermined timeframes. Therefore, the goal of Minister Giddings’ examination was to compare performance to that standard.
Bushrod Island, Brewerville, Dixville, New Georgia–Bassa Town Road connecting Caldwell, SKD Boulevard, the East and West Overpass bridges along Tubman Boulevard, Peace and Paco Islands’ connection to SKD Boulevard, Allison Street’s connection to Old Road, Soul Clinic Road, and other important corridors were among the fifteen (15) project sites that the Minister and a team of engineers inspected.
Minister Giddings expressed concern about delays on the Chicken Soup Factory Road, where development has progressed more slowly than anticipated, despite being generally satisfied with progress at most locations. The Minister was reassured by representatives of QE24, the contractor carrying out the project, that pavement work will start by mid-February 2026.
The Minister specifically commended the speed and caliber of the overpass bridge construction, characterizing the structures as an indication of better engineering standards and efficient oversight. The Ministry’s commitment to enhancing road conditions and reducing people’ transportation issues was reaffirmed as the inspection came to an end in central Monrovia, where the Minister and his team examined substantial pothole restoration efforts now underway.
