Paynesville, Liberia – Raji, who is running for a third term issued a “red card to deception” warning, calling for unity, integrity, and sound judgment over partisan divisions in the run-up to the elections. He stressed the need to stay clear of divisive techniques, personal ambitions, and money laundering in football governance.
Liberia Football President, Mustapha I. Raji has emphasized that football funds are tools of growth, not political weapons, and warned against politicization, inducement, and disinformation in light of the April 18 LFA elections in Maryland County.
“You are denying a barefoot girl in Grand Kru an opportunity when you vote against the football budget,” he said.
The LFA has digitized player registration and transfers in an effort to reduce fraud and illegal moves. By implementing FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), the FA has also incorporated the FIFA Clearing House mechanism.
Citing previous instances in which clubs lost tens of thousands of dollars as a result of inadequate systems, President Raji said that such mistakes “will not happen again.”
“Integrity is non-negotiable. If football must be run by criminals, then I will not be part of it,” he said.
