Monrovia, Liberia – The process of holding the next elections for Real Madrid’s board of directors and presidency has begun. An official statement was released on Thursday, January 2, in the afternoon.
According to the announcement, the election process will officially start at 5:30 p.m. on January 7 of next week. The process for choosing the club’s next president and board of directors has begun.
This spring marks the end of Florentino Pérez’s and his Board of Directors’ current term, which started on April 13, 2021, after no other candidates ran in the previous election.
First from July 17, 2000, to February 27, 2006, and subsequently from June 1, 2009, to the present, Pérez has been president.
Will Florentino Pérez retire as president of Real Madrid?
As in past elections, it is generally anticipated that he will be re-elected with no opposition. Pérez was the only contender after the application deadline, and the elections in 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021 were all decided in thirteen days.
The club’s bylaws state that there are stringent rules governing the election process. The notification needs to appear in at least two newspapers in Madrid and be displayed on the club’s headquarters’ designated notice board. According to Article 40.A of the laws, candidates have ten days from the date of the official announcement to submit their applications.
The following are the prerequisites to run for president of Real Madrid:
A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 members are required for each campaign, with one serving as the presidential candidate. These regulations uphold the club’s long-standing customs by guaranteeing the fairness and exclusivity of the election process.
