Rep. Foko lashes Sen. Dillon over USD $30.000 Sagar.

Montserrado County District nine Representative, Frank Saah Foko has targeted Senator Abraham Darius Dillon for allegedly collecting thirty thousand United States Dollars and doing nothing for the people of Montserrado County. It can be recalled last year each lawmaker of the 54th National Legislature received USD $30.000 for Legislative engagement.

Admitting of receiving his share of the said money,  the District# 9 Lawmaker communication send to the Liberian Senate congratulates them for the removal of the USD$30.000 for the second time for Legislative Engagement Funds from its portion of the draft budget.

The communication sent on January 14, 2022, said, this decision of yours comes at a time when our citizens are concerned about the negative impact of the growing wave and variations of Covid-19, on their mental health and socio-economic well-being. Hon. Albert Chie, Senate Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate of the 54th National Legislature, I present my sincere compliments and herein extend my heartfelt appreciation to you for the decisive removal of the budget line item labeled as “Legislative Project” which was intended to distribute thirty thousand United States Dollars (USD $30,000.00) to each Lawmaker. Hon. Pro Tempore, your singular act of nationalism is commendable, instead of individual lawmakers enriching their homes with an elephantine thirty thousand United States Dollars. We are aware that this steadfast decision taken by you does not favor few of our colleagues, particularly my distinguished Senator – the Honorable Abraham Darius Dillon, who sees collecting thirty thousand Dollars and doing nothing for the people of Montserrado County as an agreeable norm.

According to the district nine lawmakers, since Senator Dillon received the thirty thousand USD, there are no useful tangibles to prove. He noted that the decision to give such an amount of money to lawmakers, while other basic needs within sectors of the country are not being met was ill-advised. He expressed thanks to the Senate Pro Tempore for accepting their advocacy and prioritizing the needs of the Liberian people.

Representative Foko at the same time called on the Liberian Senate to pass the free tuition bill as the House of Representatives has done. He is alarmed that when the bill is passed into law, struggling students at public universities and those who want to further their education will have a secure future of pursuing their academic sojourn.  The young Lawmaker quoted President George  Weah  “education should be a right for every child and not a privilege”.

He further that, investment in education, is the best investment for the people as he continues to engage positively for his constituents, yea the Liberian populace, and look forward to many of such people-centered decisions.
