Monrovia, Liberia – Representative Samuel Kogar of Nimba County District #5 has vowed to speak out against the ruling Unity Party should President Joseph N. Boakai break the nation’s constitution by appointing individuals to tenure-track jobs.
Representative Kogar expressed his profound distress over the President of the Republic of Liberia’s recent appointments to tenure positions, especially in important organizations like the National Road Fund of Liberia, the Governance Commission, the National Lottery Authority, and the Liberia Telecommunication Authority.
The legislator for Nimba County claimed that these appointments, which were made in violation of the laws establishing these organizations, raise grave concerns regarding the application of existing legal frameworks.
According to Rep. Kogar, the Liberian Chief Executive swore to uphold the Republic’s constitution on January 22, 2024. He clarified that his actions are not directed against President Boakai but rather toward upholding the rule of law.
According to him, tenure posts are essential to the continuity and stability of important national sectors.
He underlined how crucial it is to preserve the rule of law and give due process in all government appointments, even when laws are meant to advance public goals.
